Co-vid 19 update

5/7/2020

Wow. Never imagined life could change so totally, so quickly, and I’ve lived my entire life smack dab in the inner most circle of the bulls-eye for the most hurricane prone land fall destinations in the entire world.  I mean. We get devastated regularly.

But never thought we’d endure a planet wide disaster scenario.  Wow. And it’s unfolding so slowly and purposefully.  Like a hurricane, but times a billion.  A wave rising and rising and when it finally crashes over us…  Big problem for us is that the damned wave hasn’t even crested yet. Wow.

We are SO hoping all of you -our friends and so much more-around the country are as well as can possibly be.

Having said all that, we as the denizens of a hurricane land-falling mecca have learned through repetition that the only way to get past a disaster is through it.   Just put your head down and push ahead.  Then keep pushing ahead till you don’t have to anymore.  Pure and simple.

In that vein, I do not imagine there to be a scenario in which we will not be allowed to participate in the upcoming duck season.  At the very least our guides could put our clients in the boat, ride you out to the blind, set the decoys then let you hunt on your own while he remains nearby.

The only x factor in this equation would be your gunning partner (s).  And that’s y’alls choice.  We never-ever!-intermix our groups of gunners.  Our accommodations at the Sea Ranch Resort are top notch.  Restaurants are at least serving take out.  And, believe me our guides will be WAY ready to put y’all on some ducks!!!

As a matter of fact, my prediction is that this could very well be the busiest season ever for a guided duck hunts.  There will be fewer guides available state wide. No way will Donald Trump allow the country to be closed down for the election season.  So, I’m thinking the sooner a person books this year the better your chance that you’ll get to hunt-and get the heck out of the house for a spell…. See what I’m saying?  We are all going to be real ready to get outside come next duck season.

Also, if you’ve ever gunned with us you know, my guys are going to be shooting ducks whether anybody does or do not show up at all.  If you want in on it, you might want to step on it this year.  I’m thinking we might all be on the same page this coming fowling season.  I also guarantee there will not be as many guides nationwide available this year.  Covid, poverty, and necessity will shake things up.  Hope I’m wrong….  but I don’t think so.

One last thing.  Thirty four years ago Ellen and I made a deal to trade a lifetime’s worth of dentistry for a lifetime’s worth of duck hunting for the two of us.  What a great, fair and equitable situation this turned out to be for all of us.  Unfortunately, our dentist has retired.  But life goes on and I have a tooth coming apart under a gold crown.  No pain so far (thank God!), but as we all know, these things don’t fix themselves.  So, if you’re an actual dentist, are good at it, you’re not sadistically disturbed or inclined, and your office is inside of 5 hours from the Outer Banks of NC and you love to hunt fowl with ‘old school’ professional watermen with top notch boats, motors, decoys, etc., call us at 252-261-7842 or 252-202-7842.

Thanks, be safe, love y’all!     In business since ’77.
